Weekly News WireDisability Support
In 2011, biomechanical engineering company Exmovere Holdings, Inc. is planning to launch two unique wireless vital sign monitoring devices-one for older adults and one for infants-and an upright mobility and transportation device. The wireless monitoring devices are the Telepath, a wristwatch sized device, and Exmobaby pajamas with embedded wireless biosensors that measure vital signs and mood. The self-balancing mobility device, called Chariot, is intended for people who have trouble standing or walking and for people who must stand or walk long distances.
A patent has been filed for the Telepath monitoring device, which will be based on the Zigbee wireless platform. It has been in pilot tests since 2007. A market launch is planned for the summer of 2011; the retail price is expected to be $15 or less.
Starting in early 2011, Exmobaby pajama evaluation kits for focus groups will be offered to retailers in specialized distribution channels, initially targeting hospital-based settings. A market launch is targeted for late 2011. A wireless signal receiver and needed software, to be sold separately for $99, will come with one garment. The retail price point for additional garments is expected to be between $3 and $5 each. Sizing will range from premie to about 12 months.

Exmovere Holdings, Inc., a biomedical engineering company, today announced that it is developing a stand and ride road vehicle to complement its Chariot product line, called the "Red Fury." On June 22nd of this year, Exmovere Holdings engaged Sarah Park as lead industrial designer for this product. The Red Fury is an urban electric vehicle that is based on Sarah Park's unique trapezoid-based design language and is intended to supplant mopeds and electric bicycles. This vehicle will be marketed heavily to active women and will be designed specifically to accommodate and accentuate their physique. The Red Fury will be a complement to the company's existing mobility solutions, including the Chariot, and round out the company's product offerings in this area. This is consistent with the company's commitment to emotional design and the development of health-promoting and confidence-building mobility devices. Like the Chariot, the Red Fury will enable the rider to interact with the world from a high, upright position. Further, the Red Fury rider's vertical posture will ensure optimal blood flow, confidence, and convenience. The Red Fury will go up to 25 MPH so it will be developed and marketed within the growing market of electric bicycles and mopeds.
